66 YEARS OF THE FIRST CONTAINER
Exactly 66 years ago, in 1956, the first container ship sailed from the port of New Jersey. The author of this ground-breaking invention is Malcom McLean - an American entrepreneur and inventor.
The idea came to his mind when he was working as a truck driver. He realized that driving and wasting many hours on transhipments could be used in a completely different way. He began to think about what to do to "move" the transport from the truck directly to the ship without the need for the help of porters.
He implemented his idea several years later, thus contributing to the development of global logistics chains and supply networks.
