Development of the Welcome Center as a place of support, adaptation, and integration for international students and lecturers
The project is co-financed by European funds from the European Funds for Social Development (FERS) 2021–2027 under the NAWA programme “Support for higher education and science institutions in serving foreigners and Poles going abroad” (project number: FERS.01.05.IP.08-0003/24).
Project duration: 01.10.2025 – 30.09.2027
Project description
The development of the Welcome Centre, established in January 2024, continues the previously implemented project: “Welcome Centre as a place of support, adaptation and integration for international students and lecturers” (01.06.2023 – 31.05.2025).
Under the new project, activities for international students and lecturers will be continued in order to facilitate their stay and adaptation in Poland.
The Welcome Center will further develop its activities and expand its operations in the following areas:
Admissions process – development of procedures for the preliminary assessment of candidates’ skills and their readiness to undertake demanding studies at the IULT (e.g. competency questionnaires) as well as automation of this process. Introducing the above will streamline the recruitment process and help to select the most motivated candidates who genuinely intend to study in Poland, thereby minimizing dropout rates among international students.
Ongoing support for students and lecturers – assistance for international students with scholarship applications, opening bank accounts, arranging medical appointments, obtaining work permits, etc., and support for international lecturers in organizing classes, arranging their stay at the university, and providing lecture translations.
Student adaptation – organization of integration trips and workshops on intercultural communication and cultural differences to ensure the smooth adaptation of students coming to Poland. The Centre will also expand the activities of the International Students Club by introducing new initiatives and organizing thematic meetings.
Career development support – consultations with a career advisor, assistance with CV preparation, and support in planning the path of professional development.
Cooperation with international lecturers – the Centre will continue to strengthen the cooperation with the academic community in Wrocław, which may lead to joint research projects, teaching activities, and the creation of co-authored scientific publications.
